Mary Jean Chan To celebrate Faber and Fabers 90th anniversary, Faber poets Richard Scott and Mary Jean Chan read work from their current collections and the work of other Faber poets who have inspired them, including Thom Gunn This is a National Portrait Gallery event in conjunction with Faber Members, in Fabers 90th Anniversary year. Richard Scott grew up in London and studied at the Royal College of Music and at Goldsmiths College. He has been a winner of the Wasafiri New Writing Prize, a Jerwood/Arvon Poetry mentee, and a member of the Poetry Trust Aldeburgh Eight. His pamphlet Wound (Rialto) won the Michael Marks Poetry Award 2016 and his poem crocodile won the 2017 Poetry London Competition. Soho, his first book of poetry, is shortlisted for the 2018 T.S. Eliot Prize. Mary Jean Chan is a poet, editor and academic from Hong Kong who currently lives in London. She was shortlisted for the 2017 Forward Prize for Best Single Poem and came Second in the 2017 National Poetry Competition. Her debut pamphlet, A Hurry of English (ignitionpress 2018), is the 2018 Poetry Book Society Summer Pamphlet Choice. Mary Jean is a Lecturer in Creative Writing (Poetry) at Oxford Brookes University, and is an editor of Oxford Poetry. Her debut collection is forthcoming from Faber & Faber in July 2019.
