@ Home with Omar

Iconic British soul pioneer, Omar Lyefook MBE teams up with creative event visionaries Soul and Sound, for an exclusive and unique evening. Focusing on the achievements and contributions Omar has made to not only British music, but to the global soul community. @ Home with Omar, will give the audience a rare opportunity to travel back in time to the setting of Omars childhood living room. Hearing stories from the multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producers life and inspirational long spanning career. The evening, hosted by TV personality and presenter, Munya Chawawa will take place at the Round Chapel on Friday 19th January 2018. Admirers of the artist will be able to engage with Omar in an intimate, up close and personal way like never before. Event organisers Soul and Sound listened to the collective voice of fans, who nowadays, want to really engage and interact with artists. This will be an extraordinary opportunity, unveiling another element of the artist and a memorable experience for the audience. @ Home with Omar will also feature a pop up art exhibition featuring artwork and photography inspired by the artists life and his prominent path within the music industry. Writing and self-producing from a young age and collaborating with notable artists such as Stevie Wonder, Angie Stone, Common, Ty, Leon Ware and Robert Glasper. Omars first album was released on family run label - Kongo Records in 1990, which gained attention from the Talkin Loud founders Gilles Peterson and Norman Jay MBE. Omar joined the label for his second album release which saw him slot in comfortably with other legends on the early 90s British Acid-jazz scene, such as Galliano, Young disciples and Incognito, gaining Omar the title to some, as the British father of Neo-soul. On the night Omar will be performing live with his full band, showcasing exceptional features from special guests. The night will traverse on a musical journey of Omars classic tracks, exclusives and new material from his 8th studio album, Love in beats. The album released earlier this year on Freestyle Records; has been highly received among critics claiming the influential artist to be at the peak of his career.
