Polari Literary Salon: Celebrate Ninth birthday founded by Paul Burston
London on 25 Nov - 7:30pm

An evening celebrating Queer masculinity with literature and spoken word. The third incarnation of Being a Man festival is intuitive ground for Paul Burston's long-standing literature and spoken-word residency. Now in its ninth year of being, this nationally celebrated salon for LGBT lives and voices celebrates Queer masculinity across an exhilarating spectrum of readings and performances. Jake Arnott headlines as a highly acclaimed author whose work includes the bestselling The Long Firm featuring charismatic homosexual gangster Harry Starks, which was adapted as a BAFTA-winning drama for BBC2. His forthcoming novel, The Fatal Tree, is set in 18th century London a wicked city peopled by whores, cut-purses, Grub Street poets and corrupt thief-takers with a secret gay underworld that gathers at the notorious Mother Clap's Molly-House. Jake is joined by former Polari First Prize nominee, Dean Atta, with further contributions by VG Lee, Stuart Feather and former Attitude editor, Matthew Todd.
