Recently named one of the world's best LGBT events by blouinartinfo.com, this lively literary salon is held monthly at the Southbank Centre and hosted by Time Out's Paul Burston. Polari showcases the best in new, emerging and established literary talent. Authors, poets and performers are all part of the mix special guests have included Fenella Fielding, David Hoyle, Celia Imrie and David McAlmont. There's also The Polari First Book Prize, which is awarded each year to a new LGBT literary voice. There's a bar and a bookstall, provided by Foyles Bookshop. Advance booking is strongly advised. Tonight: Polari turns six. Charlotte Mendelson heads the bill. Plus poet Dean Atta, singer Dee Chanelle, authors Rosie Garland and Patrick Flanery and special guest, comedian Helen Lederer. Also tonight, the winner of The Polari First Book Prize 2013 will be announced. This year's prize is sponsored by Societe Generale, who are kindly donating 1000 prize money.
